Ginger is gaining popularity because of its ability to stimulate the immune system and its proposed energy benefits. Commonly ginger root and ginseng are used in popular energy drinks to deliver an energy boost. These same benefits and more are available in the form of ginger tea, for far less cost.
Ginger root is commonly available now and relatively inexpensive. Purchase a knob of fresh ginger and cut off a one inch piece. Save the remainder for another day. A one inch piece will make 4 cups of ginger tea, enough for today’s refreshment.

Ginger Tea Recipe
You will need:
4 cups water
1 inch piece of ginger root, peeled and sliced thin
honey or lemon if desired (optional)
1. Peel the ginger and grate it coarsely or slice thinly.
2. Bring 4 cups of water to a boil and add the ginger. Reduce the heat and simmer the tea for 15 to 20 minutes depending on the strength you like.
3. Pour off the tea, or strain if necessary. Enjoy hot or cold.
4. Sweeten with a little honey, or add lemon if desired.
Ginger tea is commonly used as a cold remedy. It is said to boost the immune system, soothe sore throats, and treat bouts of flu. It is also believed to improve digestion and help relieve nausea.
